We All Shine On

To celebrate my birthday, I've started a new daily embroidery piece. This one's all about circles: sun, moon, earth. Symbol of wholeness, perfection, eternity, infinity ...

Seven colors, one for each day of the week. One color per day, stitched in running stitch—the simplest, most basic of stitches. As with all of my daily embroidery pieces, the idea is to devote time to my artwork every day, even if only a few minutes.

The circles will be different sizes and spaced randomly/unevenly. I don't have a set plan for their placement; the composition will develop as I work.

For Day 1, I began with orange: intense, energetic, color of flames, fiery dawn, and new beginnings.

As always, so simple, so profound. Looking forward to seeing more... And a belated happy birthday!

Hi Bonnie, what coloured thread do you use, a perle cotton...looks like No.9?? And what needle do you stitch with? Lovely pieces, really enjoying your daily embroidery posts!

Kindest Regards,

Hi Janet. Thanks for your comment. I use DMC perle cotton, usually no. 8, sometimes no. 10. Also Valdani when I can find it - their colors are so beautiful. As for needles, I've bought them at Jo-Ann Fabrics, don't remember the brand but I think DMC.
