Random Happy Thing #1: New Socks
Pattern: Tesserae Sock by Anne Hanson
Yarn: Woolen Rabbit Pearl in the New England Red colorway
Needles: US 1/2.25mm dpns
I liked this pattern a lot—it was easy to memorize, ideal for fall walking and knitting. And the color—it definitely lives up to its name.
Random Happy Thing #2: Little Mint
At 75 percent off, the "mint garden in a bag" kit I spied on a sale table at Barnes & Noble a couple months ago was irresistible. Before long the tiny seeds sprouted, but then soon died. Only one shoot survived, barely limping along. So I repotted it, administered Miracle Gro, gave it a toothpick to lean on, and set it atop a horseshoe plate for good luck. Little Mint lives!
Random Happy Thing #3: Cut Paper Holiday Cards
These lovely cards are designed by a local artist, Kimberly Wachtel. I was drawn to the blue ones, but she has plenty of red and green designs, too. You can order cards online, or get them in Northampton, Mass. at River Valley Market Co-op and Sticks and Bricks, as well as the Old Creamery Co-op in Cummington, Elmer's General Store in Ashfield, and The Christmas Place in Williamsburg.
Random Happy Thing #4: Dandelions in November
Random Happy Thing #5: Quince & Co. Color Cards
When Quince & Co. announced last week they would donate a percentage of sales to survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan, I decided it was time to order a set of their new color cards.
What a delightful package! A simple, elegant box:
With a card for each of their yarns tucked inside:
The set includes the new Owl, and all the new colors:
And now, time to daydream about future projects ...
