Socktoberfest, Day 15, and a Pre-Pattern Release Giveaway

I think I'm actually going to finish Mom's anklets by the end of the month. Socktoberfest is halfway over, and as of today, I'm a little more than halfway done:

Socktoberfest Socks, Halfway There
Pattern: Bamboo Lace Socks by Lara Teter
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Solemate in the Magnificent Mile colorway
Needles: US 1/2.25mm

This makes me exceedingly happy. See how happy? (Hi Mom!)

Me at the Brookfield Farm

Actually, I was exceedingly happy this morning at the Brookfield Farm because finally it wasn't raining. And because I decided on the location for the photo shoot for Pomegranate (more on that in a sec).

Speaking of Pomegranate, it's knit, it's blocked, it fits both me and the model perfectly. The pattern will be going to the tech editor on Monday or Tuesday, which means it should be ready to publish later this month. Here are a couple of detail shots:

Pomegranate Teaser_1

To celebrate, I'm having a little giveaway. The prize includes this lovely skein of merino-silk fingering weight yarn (about 400 yards) from the Periwinkle Sheep, a copy of my Restless scarf pattern, and enough crystal beads to make the scarf.

Periwinkle Sheep Merino Silk

To win just leave a comment on this post by midnight, Saturday, October 22. I'll choose a name at random and will announce the winner when I publish Pomegranate.

If you want, try guessing where I'm going to have the photo shoot for Pomegranate. Here are a few preliminary photos of the location:

Mystery Location_3

Mystery Location_4

Mystery Location_5

I'll give you a hint: the name of the place where I took these photos begins with the word "Mount." Another hint: What is the brightest star in the constellation of Gemini?

Extra credit: There's a "Mount" of a different name visible in the last photo. What is it? (Sorry, I'm not giving a hint for that one. But even if you aren't local, a little Googling to answer the first question should turn up the answer for this one.) I see this particular Mount just about every day of my life here in western Massachusetts and I never tire of seeing it in all kinds of light, all kinds of weather.

Whether you can answer the questions or not, leave a comment by October 22 to have a shot at winning the yarn, scarf pattern, and beads!

What a pretty scarf Restless seems to be. Must participate. I like your knitting. It all is so beautiful. The view is good too, but I have no other opinion or comment on it from here, far far away.

Yay for being able to finish the socks on time! Your mom is going to love the them. And I am very excited about pomegranate - not in the least because the sample is knit in one of my favorite color families.

Wohooooooooo! Finally a giveaway with something blue. And what kind of beautiful blue yarn? This looks so lovely and with that patter of the shawl it can't be nothing but an instant success, I guess.

About those mountains of yours... I am thinking you are talking about Mount Pollux and Castor? And seeing the lush green in the fields, I expect the Pomegrate will look at its best as a come-and-get me!

Good luck with the photo shoot. Have a nice day all! Ciao, Fleur (Fleur @ BlueMarkForME.com).

I love the pomegranate sweater and that beautiful yarn. Can't wait to see you wear it into the office!

And I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard of either mountain. Must get out more!

What a beautiful sweater and the color is just fantastic. Your yarn and lovely pattern for the giveaway are really spectacular as well. What a wonderful giveaway.

Glad you had a sunny, non rainy day. Here in PA we have the prospect of two almost sunny days -although the wind is making for chilly breezes - just right for a beautiful scarf. That's a silver lining in the dark clouds.

KnitNana said...

Can't wait for the pattern release, the sweater is gorgeous! And that yarn? Oh! That's exactly the sort of thing I'd make my sis-in-law for her birthday in January! And it would make the first time for me knitting with beads too!

So, yes, please include me in the contest...
(((hugs)))

I believe that Mount Castor is where you'll be shooting pictures of your new pattern and what a lovely area to do it in. I'm guessing that Mount Holyoke is the second peak visible, but mostly because I like it's history.

Good luck with finishing your mom's present :o)

My ravelry id is Sushikette, just in case ;o)

Ah, Mount Pollux! Didn't know there was a mountain named that--learn something new every day!

And the sweater pattern is gorgeous! I think in that color with a deep purple top underneath would look lovely.

And, it's a very nice giveaway. I never win anything, but it never hurts to try!
